Hey Reader, I thought we'd celebrate Friday together with a long and winding response to the survey responses I got this week. The short answer: we're all kinda teetering on the edge right now. If that's how you feel, you're so not alone in that. I used ChatGPT to write more than I used my brain this week. And... the results were really good. The clients are happy (and they know about it). And my workload was way more doable. And I finally felt productive and not overwhelmed. And I hate it, honestly. Between GenAI in general, the enshittification of the Internet, ghost job listings, many segments of the market pausing or delaying marketing investments... Just, whew. It is not in your head — writers are going through it! Some random thoughts and comments about the survey results so many of you generously completed: For the new mom who asked for a course that outlines how to start a freelance writing business, step by step (“for dummies”)... You'll want to watch the free webinar, "Business-building workshop for writers." For those making "the emoji face with the 'yikes/teeth bared' face," and who are working to get themselves out of the field... I don't have answers, just camaraderie. I have googled "how to make a business plan for a brick and mortar stationery business" more times than I want to admit this past year. But writing still just pays me so much dang more that a store would seem like a side hustle with IRL hours. For everyone (which was... a lot of people) who asked for "a single session tailored to my specific needs to get some quick feedback" (because you're just too busy to do longer coaching program)... We can meet for an hour of power any time to talk how to set up your own ChatGPT, advanced lead gen strategies, refining your niche, see the forest for the trees, etc. Click here to schedule. For those seeking "a small cohort group program that gets stuff done and that has direct contact with each other (specifically with "sound healthy individuals working towards something impactful")... That's private coaching (also known as working with a business strategist, me), and you should reply to this email for more information. If you are working on building a community or side-hustle and leaning into it... Shoot me a message. If there are enough people interested I'd be excited to put together a low-ticket small group session about my experience as a creator and growing an online audience/ my coaching and products income last year. For the person who said they want resources not to over-build their business but to have better balance in life (and who said there are "too many programmes pitched to people who want to grow their business and hit their goals)... We are pretty much soul mates. The thing is, though, people tend to not pay money for things unless they see a true likelihood of a financial ROI on the other side. I do it, too. It's just how we're wired. Until that changes about the world, all we have is art. Puffy white cat tummies, Sarah G. P.S. BBC reports adults buying stuffies to cope with global turmoil |

When you start something new, it's good to know what it's called, right Reader? So what the heck, then, are we going to call the consultative process of identifying the right audience and formats and topics to achieve content marketing goals? Enter, the official LinkedIn poll for content strategy: what is it? (You can see the poll live here if you want to weigh in as a comment.) Overall, people in my circles describe the consultative process of identifying the right audience and formats and...
Mah oh man, Reader, have I been on a frickin' journey! When I started B2BWI in 2019, I went to a conference and came away completely swept away by the idea of authenticity and "being myself" instead of this neutral version of an institution I thought I needed to be. I wrote this line down every day for months: "Authority does not come from neutrality." This was my rejection of the buttoned-up way we report on and study the way we write for business, particularly in B2B. It was the high-dive...
Personally, it's been a pretty crappy time over here, Reader! Now, I know that's not sexy. Most people would rather hear about... crushing my goals. My kids eating vegetables. My deep pockets due to online business excellence. But... none of that is true. I've been sick since November with autoimmune crap that just. won't. stop. My kids seem to only eat vegetables when I hide them in chocolate peanut butter smoothies. And my shift to full-time coaching led me to inner peace but smaller...
