What I'm learning

Personally, it's been a pretty crappy time over here, Reader!

Now, I know that's not sexy. Most people would rather hear about... crushing my goals. My kids eating vegetables. My deep pockets due to online business excellence.

But... none of that is true.

I've been sick since November with autoimmune crap that just. won't. stop.

My kids seem to only eat vegetables when I hide them in chocolate peanut butter smoothies.

And my shift to full-time coaching led me to inner peace but smaller profits.

(Shout out to the incredible group of people who have let me into their business, hearts, and minds to make some really incredible progress over the past few months! 🐝)

Anyway, all that to say... when I get down in the dumps about the state of the world and the future of marketing, I turn to learning.

You might think this is because an Enneagram 8 in stress goes to 5 and wants to lock themselves away in a room to be with books...

Or because I grew up in the 80s and "Knowledge is power."

But mainly it's just because I've learned in 10+ years of entrepreneurship, that when it feels like everything is falling apart, it's because it's getting rid of the old stuff to make way for something new.

And learning something new has never.

~ NEVER ~

Led me astray.

So here are the two unrelated programs I'm in for March and April.

Ed Gandia's AI Advantage Bootcamp

Justin Blackman's Brand Voice Visionary

I'd love it if you wanted to join me in learning this incredibly important stuff, or if you want to hit REPLY and let me know how you're investing in yourself (so I have more stuff to recommend to people).

This isn't an affiliate thing or a % sales things. These are just two programs I'm in as a student to learn.

And look how cute they are! I don't think they even know each other but they're both doing the same "strong dude arm pose" thing the photographer probably told them to do!

😍

Learning leads to a happier mind, an excuse to use my extensive stationery collection, and a bigger paycheck.

Example: I just got a soft yes on $20K worth of work where I'm building the brand's custom GPT (which I'll refine/elevate how to do in Ed's program) and creating a brand voice guide for them to use with the writers they hire this year (which I'll refine/elevate how to do in Justin's program).

Because the day you stop investing in your business should be the day you've accepted a lucrative job offer...

Love and shrimp,

Sarah G.

P.S. INCREDIBLE cat doodle, you'll never see a better one

When you start something new, it's good to know what it's called, right Reader? So what the heck, then, are we going to call the consultative process of identifying the right audience and formats and topics to achieve content marketing goals? Enter, the official LinkedIn poll for content strategy: what is it? (You can see the poll live here if you want to weigh in as a comment.) Overall, people in my circles describe the consultative process of identifying the right audience and formats and...

Mah oh man, Reader, have I been on a frickin' journey! When I started B2BWI in 2019, I went to a conference and came away completely swept away by the idea of authenticity and "being myself" instead of this neutral version of an institution I thought I needed to be. I wrote this line down every day for months: "Authority does not come from neutrality." This was my rejection of the buttoned-up way we report on and study the way we write for business, particularly in B2B. It was the high-dive...

Hey Reader, I thought we'd celebrate Friday together with a long and winding response to the survey responses I got this week. The short answer: we're all kinda teetering on the edge right now. If that's how you feel, you're so not alone in that. I used ChatGPT to write more than I used my brain this week. And... the results were really good. The clients are happy (and they know about it). And my workload was way more doable. And I finally felt productive and not overwhelmed. And I hate it,...
